Inked - Jessie

I like tattoos.
At least those that are executed well.

It's a painful experience and a permanent decision.
Seemingly idiotic and strange concept to some.

I think we can only really appreciate the work on someone’s flesh when we have a better understanding of why they got it.

I know I only recognise the value of someone’s tattoo once I know the meaning and hear the story behind it.

About Jessie’s ink:

“I had been interested in getting a tattoo for a few years, but wasn't quite sure what of. Eventually I came across the cherry blossom; a traditional Japanese design. It’s not only beautiful, but it also has a rich symbolic meaning which I  was instantly attracted to. The fragile flowers bloom and die quickly and as such represent the Buddhist awareness of the transience of life. Despite this they are also a symbol of strength and hope, and were often painted on the planes of Japanese pilots before leaving on a dangerous mission. I consider my tattoo to be a reminder that life should be lived to the fullest, and that no matter how bad things may seem there is always hope.
